11 March 2026 — Documentary Screening and Q&A: Metamorphosis of the Bay Area

On 11 March 2026, Prof. Helen F. Siu presented the documentary Metamorphosis of the Bay Area (2025) at the University of British Columbia as part of the Backreading Hong Kong Symposium 2026, organized by the Hong Kong Studies Initiative and the Department of Asian Studies at UBC. Held at the Asian Centre Auditorium, the screening was followed by a Q&A session in which Prof. Siu shared reflections on the film’s research background and production process.

The event brought together scholars, students, and members of the public for a discussion on the historical transformations of the Pearl River Delta and the wider Bay Area.
